Developer zsKnight has just released v0.310 of the newly re-launched Super Nintendo / Super Famicom emulator Super ZSNES. This version includes HD enhancements for Star Fox, as well as support for Apple TV and Android TV streaming boxes. There's also bugfixes and optimizations. The Apple and Android versions are $3 and the PC versions are completely free. The above video is a short preview of what to expect and there's more info below the links:

I just tried it on my Apple TV via my LG OLED and it looked awesome. I only spent about a half hour with it so far, but I really liked how the A Link To The Past enhancements looked on my TV. I also loved how easy it was to add games and saves - I just opened the web server address in my browser and dropped my game files in. That's it. When I went back to my ATV, ALttP opened and played the MSU-1 audio track! It just worked.
One VERY important thing to note, is if you're playing via Apple or Android TV, make SURE to put your TV in Game Mode!!!! This might seem silly to mention, but I normally have my TV set to Filmmaker Mode for the HDMI port the streaming box is connected to and I forgot to set it to Game Mode when first testing. I was wondering why the lag was so awful...and then I remembered Game Mode and it was much better
Overall, this has the potential to be pretty incredible, but I did run into a few bugs. Nothing game-breaking though and I'm sure they'll be fixed - I'll list them below the full list of changes since the last update, just for reference
- Added portrait mode for mobile
- Fixed various controller button/dpad detection issues
- Apple TV and Android TV support. It currently uses a local web server to transfer files over.
- First pass Starfox Enhancement. Big thanks to Kandowontu, Sunlit, Alexander, and the Starfox EX team for making this possible! Re-creates 3D models and sprites as actual 3D models instanced on the GPU. Adds wide-screen, hi-res, and interpolation. Currently works only on the original rom.
- Initial custom .zlua script support
- Internal widescreen is now off when per game widescreen is on. Fixes Super Metroid widescreen patch
- Right analog stick now controls 3D layers mode. Click and hold the left analog stick to activate zoom mode.
- Android frontend launcher support (thanks to Snu for the testing work!)
- Custom .zsmod (enhancement) files can now be loaded. Put it with the rom and rename the .zsmod file to match the rom filename.
- Lots more optimizations
Here's some issues I ran into:
- I couldn't figure out how to navigate to the Enhancement Toggles via the ATV Remote, or PlayStation 5 controller I was using. Maybe it's possible and just not intuitive? Or maybe those toggles should just be listed in general options anyway?
UPDATE: I pressed every button and the one mapped to Select moved me over. I feel dumb for missing that - Sorry! Still might be a good idea to add to the General Options menu...
-
The scanlines seemed to be uneven, the same way they would with a "fill" option and a scaler. I think for scanlines to look correct, there would need to be a vertical integer scale option. One you can toggle would be best, so people can adjust it based on their display. Of course, I'd love to set mine to 4K 10x!
-
The app worked perfectly on iOS26, but on my Apple TV that's running the latest iOS 27, it crashes the moment you click on the app.
- Subfolder support would be appreciated, both for organizing games, as well as MSU-1 audio support, as they're best organized with their own subfolder.
So yeah, these seem like things that'll get worked out pretty quickly and I'm happy to have paid the $3 to have this awesome emulator on my ATV boxes!
